The combined passions for optimum health, movement, and physical fitness have informed Kristie’s life and career. In high school, she excelled in competitive cheer, dance, and gymnastics and loved the study of rhythm, grace, and expression. This led her to study Physical Therapy at LSU Medical School. After many years of helping people to heal and strengthen their bodies, the lack of regard for the whole person led her to search for an integrated, symbiotic approach, which she discovered in Pilates. This was a holistic and evolved approach to the human body and physiology.
Kristie initially trained at the Physical Mind Institute in NYC and over the years has trained in Mat and Equipment at various workshops all over the country. Kristie trained with Elizabeth Larkam, Valentin, and Ron Fletcher, who himself trained with Joseph Pilates and transmuted the philosophy of continuous and rigorous education and training, which she undertakes consistently to the present day. She has recently attended courses at Omega and in Houston, New Orleans and Austin.
When Kristie is not in her studio, she enjoys spending time with her two children in their school activities and musical pursuits. She's also an avid traveler and takes trips with her family as often as possible.
Frances Fenstermaker is our associate instructor at Pilates Bodies. After retiring from a career in medical administration, she became a regular student of Kristie's, visiting the studio every day for classes when she decided to take the next step and become an instructor. She trained at.... in Houston and has completed countless hours of observation in and out of the studio. When she's not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and college age children. She can often be seen in the studio taking classes on her days off.
